Our name—Lone Mountain—reflects the strength, clarity, and independent spirit we bring to every appraisal and transaction.

Meet the Owner
Before forming Lone Mountain Coin, Stephen was Co-Founder, Fellow, and Chief Scientist of Team Cymru, a company whose technology scaled to helping millions of users, many Tier 1 ISPs, NSPs, and governments in the fight against cyber crime world-wide. He developed many of the cutting edge technologies which help set them apart and be recognized as the top most influential leaders in the world of Internet Security. Stephen has a Computer Science degree from Wheaton College and has also worked at major tech companies such as Cisco Systems, IBM and others. He has partnered with various business owners to map out and execute effective strategies for growth.
Although he retired from the field of Information Security in 2015, he has been more active than ever in various fields of interest. Lone Mountain Coin is not a job, it’s a passion. He LOVES coins and vintage bars.
His passion for 19th century ingots also let him to build and maintain the premier site and census of rare vintage ingots after noticing a severe void in the space – it can be found on RareIngot.com.
Stephen owns and moderates several collector groups including the largest and most popular group on Pre33 US Gold with over 5000 members, as well as groups on CAC Coins, World Gold, and Vintage Bars (over 4000 members!).

We are a family owned business that has been in the coin world for years. As coin enthusiasts ourselves, we’ve enjoy helping others navigate through the world of precious metals, coin collecting and numismatics. What began as a hobby quickly blossomed into a passion and hence Lone Mountain Coin was born.

During the pandemic in 2020 we were doing a lot of our initial triage virtually through video consultation, phone, and text messaging. Now we invite you to come to the shop in North Scottsdale – nothing beats a face to face visit. If warranted, we will occasionally come to you by appointment to evaluate your collection in person and to make things easier on you. We often drive all over the valley!
